About Us

Public School of Technology, delivered by PUBLIC, is built on the context, challenges and needs of the public sector. This centre offers public servants a radically different learning environment, led by a highly stimulating ecosystem of digital innovators, entrepreneurs and investors.

Our Mission

The public sector is in the throes of a digital revolution. Digital technologies are transforming the way the state operates and meets citizens’ needs. From local councils, to hospitals and prisons - the public sector is becoming more efficient, more responsive, more secure, more resilient. The pace of change is unprecedented, making it more important than ever that public servants upskill for the digital age.

About PUBLIC

PUBLIC helps reimagine and build digitally-enabled public services. Our mission is to help public sector bodies transform the services they offer in order to create a better society for everyone. We strongly believe that public service can be pursued both inside and outside of government.

Our Expertise

PUBLIC has deep in-house experience and expertise in helping government and public sector organisations solve a wide range of complex problems using technology and startup solutions. We have become a trusted adviser and thought leader in the GovTech space, producing several research publications such as “The Promise of Health Tech” and “Startup Zero”.

PUBLIC has run many startup programmes including our accelerator GovStart, and challenge programmes such as TechForce19. Through our programmes we have supported startups from pre-seed to Series B-C startups to work with the public sector. Companies range from small EdTech and Smart City startups to larger companies in HealthTech and mobility.

PUBLIC convenes the global GovTech ecosystem, facilitating collaboration between public bodies and innovative companies. Through market-leading insight, accelerator programmes, and keynote events, PUBLIC breaks down the barriers that prevent the public sector from leveraging new technologies to improve the way services are designed and delivered.

We have a strong track-record of delivering innovation programmes for government and in the wider public sector, which include:
The Prison Leavers’ Innovation Challenge (PLIC)
The Prison Leavers Innovation Challenge is a programme run by PUBLIC to help the Ministry of Justice find, assess and deploy solutions that can support prison leavers in re-entering society and avoid re-offending.
Tech For Our Planet
(TFOP)
The Tech For Our Planet (TF0P) challenge programme is an exciting new opportunity for startups to pilot technology that will help the UK and other territories reach Net Zero targets. The best startups will have the chance to showcase their solutions on stage at COP26.
Innovation in Procurement (LOTI)
We worked with London Boroughs to help them adopt innovation in their procurement processes and created The Innovation in Procurement toolkit which is now across London’s boroughs to make procurements more efficiently.
